Provider Orientation


Medi-Cal enrolled providers attempting to enroll or re-certify into the Family PACT Program must complete the legislatively mandated Provider Orientation per W&I Code, Section (24005(k). The Family PACT Provider Orientation provides an overview on comprehensive family planning, program benefits and services, client eligibility, provider responsibilities and compliance

Site Certifiers, rendering, and non-medical providers administering the Family PACT Program must complete all required trainings prior to submitting an enrollment application.

Only the Site Certifier is required to attend the Provider Orientation hosted via Zoom. 

Provider Orientation Requirements:

  • All participants are required to have full audio and video capabilities enabled on a personal computer/laptop to fully participate in the Provider Orientation
  • Login with a cell phone is not permitted.
  • Participants arriving 15 minutes past the start time of the Provider Orientation will not be permitted entry, and those departing early will not be granted their Certificate of Attendance.

Identification Requirement:

  • Please submit a color copy of your photo ID (state-issued driver license or state-issued identification card) to OFPProviderTrainings@dhcs.ca.gov prior to attending the Provider Orientation.

Audio/Visual Requirement:

  • To maintain registration for the Family PACT Provider Orientation, providers must attend an audio/visual testing session. 

Note: Failure to meet the identification and audio/visual requirement will result in cancellation of your Family PACT Provider Orientation registration.


2.5 CME Credits At No Cost:

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine and California Prevention Training Center. The University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education to physicians.

The University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 2.50 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Contraceptive Implant Insertion Training
NEXPLANON® (etonogestrel implant) 68 mg Radiopaque

You are invited to join your colleagues at a Clinical Training Program for NEXPLANON® (etonogestrel implant) 68 mg Radiopaque. During the Clinical Training Program for NEXPLANON, you will receive hands-on training for insertion and removal procedures as well as implant localization techniques. Completion of this course will allow you to order the product from authorized distributors. Space is limited to 50 participants; please register early for the session.

This session, which is sponsored by Organon, is accredited for continuing education credit. The training is open only to Medical Doctors (MDs), Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine (DOs), Nurse Practitioners (NPs), Physician Assistants (PAs), or Certified Nurse-Midwives (CNMs), and Residents authorized to perform the procedures entailed in the insertion and removal of NEXPLANON in the jurisdiction where they practice. Additionally, NPs, PAs, and CNMs must attest that they have met all specific state conditions and requirements, including but not limited to signing a collaborative agreement with an MD/DO.

Residents or students in advanced practice training must understand that they can only administer NEXPLANON under the supervision of an attending healthcare provider who has also been trained on the procedures to insert and remove NEXPLANON.

It is Organon’s policy to verify all healthcare provider, US state license and/or NPI number, and eligibility information in advance of the training. Organon will contact you directly if there is a problem. Attendees are expected to attend the entire training, which is approximately 2 to 3 hours in duration. Certificates of attendance will not be issued to those who arrive late or leave early.

Family PACT Provider Orientation

The Family PACT Provider Orientation provides an overview of the Family PACT program, provider enrollment process, program standards and benefits, and client eligibility and enrollment.

All providers and their staff are welcome to register for both the online Provider Orientation training (Modules 1 thru 7) and Orientation training (Module 8) either as a refresher and/or for updates.

Please note: Medi-Cal providers applying to become a Family PACT provider are required to complete both the online training and attend the orientation, per Welfare and Institutions Code § 24005(k).

Solo providers, group providers, or primary care clinics are eligible to apply for enrollment in the Family PACT program if they currently have a National Provider Identifier (NPI) and are enrolled in Medi-Cal in good standing.

Intermittent clinics, as defined by Health and Safety Code (H&S Code) § 1206(h), and mobile clinics, as defined by H&S Codes, § 1765.120, 1765.150 and 1765.155, must apply for enrollment in the Family PACT program using their organizational NPI. The organizational NPI must be enrolled in Medi-Cal in good standing.

The medical director, physician, nurse practitioner, or certified nurse midwife responsible for overseeing the family planning services to be rendered at the site to be enrolled is eligible to certify the site. Site certifiers shall sign a statement affirming responsibility.
